PHP mail() would not send email to own domain with MX outside

/etc/remotedomains is used to list domains that have account on your server but send/receive mail through their own mail server. So if you changed MX record for this domain in hosting management software (CPanel or something like), it could move the domain from localdomains to remotedomains.

Check MX for the domain - if it points to your server - make sure that this domain is in /etc/localdomains but not in /etc/remotedomains.
